Ankali
Hiro Kone is a project of Nicky Mao, New York-based musician and producer who will bring her visceral meditation on rhythm, noise and melody to Ankali’s main floor. Her shape shifting sound, often released on DAIS and Bank Records, takes a deconstructive turn and utilizes synthesis, noise and field recordings, while exposing the unsettling and the sublime.
Before releasing his new LP, the Prague-based Gravity artist Exhausted Modern will perform live with his always-progressing sound under a new moniker Oblaka.
Originally from Lebanon and strongly tied to the European music scenes Rabih Beaini has built a reputation as one of the most forward-thinking musicians, DJs and curators in the modern experimental and electronic scenes. His musical practice is shaped by a strong interest in exploring the traditional, while always moving forward.
The Gravity Prague Talks #1 in Prague will dedicate an afternoon of presentations and panel discussions to topics of safer spaces and sustainability of electronic music culture. The Talks will be led and moderated by Freddie Hudson, a Prague-based journalist and deputy editor for Inverted Audio.
15.4.2022
14.00–19.00
Planeta Za
A sustainable approach: Terraforma & Threes
Ruggero Pietromarchi and Ada Karayel of the Milanese Terraforma will introduce the festival and Threes production team’s approach to sustainability from the environmental and cultural point of view in making the annual event at Villa Arconati, as well as other music & art events they produce.
How Can We Nurture Safer Spaces?
What can club culture do to make its spaces more safe? Discussing different approaches in creating safer spaces, in building communities, tackling discrimination, exclusivity and harassment will be several guests from various scenes and with different backgrounds. Gravity artists Killa of Lecken collective and Monster of the Polish Oramics initiative will participate in the discussion to bring perspectives of artist-activists with experience in community-oriented events. They will be joined by Steven Dei-Kwarteng, a representative of Revier Südost, the Gravity Network member which has recently gone under a major restructuralization after an ethnically-fuelled incident causing the club to close and face a number of accusations. Finally, taking part in the debate will be a representative of Konsent, an organisation focusing on the prevention of sexual violence and harassment in Czech republic.
Temporary Pleasure
Taking a ‘break’ from a week-long workshop held at Ankali and presenting their research and work will be the team of Temporary Pleasure, an international collective of architects, event-makers and club creatives who focus on generating new ways to imagine, build, and use the club – together.
And what about the future?
The final panel will look back to look forward, examine the now and glimpse at the future. Sharing their perspectives and visions on what's to come in the world of club & electronic music culture will be Ruggero Pietromarchi (Terraforma), John Gillen (Temporary Pleasure) and Terry Rivers (Queer Spaces Network)
Ankali & Planeta Za in Prague host the first of the main Gravity clubnights on April 15th, 2022.

11.–15.4.2022
Ankali
Temporary Pleasure is a collective of architects, event producers, and club creatives generating new ways to imagine, build, and use the club – together. The team of TP is coming to lead a 5 day workshop during which 10 to 12 participants will work on re-designing & re-defining several of the rooms at Ankali club to create more shared, fluid and safer spaces for the local communities. On Friday 15th, they’ll give a public presentation during our Talks programme at Ze Mě.
“Our club-building workshops empower club creatives to create DIY venues – replacing rigid spaces and barriers-to-entry with fluid spaces and co-creation, responding to the needs of local scenes and communities. We believe that real collaboration and inclusivity make for better dance floors, better music, and opportunities for community-building beyond the club.”
As a part of Gravity Prague #1, the team of Temporary Pleasure will organise a week-long workshop with the goal to enhance spaces of Ankali club in Prague through a participatory design process with a group of participants from around Europe. The resulting installations and interventions will be presented to the audience during the Gravity Prague #1 [clubnight] on April 15th.
